VAUTID produces special castings at three large modern foundries in Europe. Wear, temperature and corrosion resistant castings are made in a weight between 1 kg and 6000 kg. The parts can be manufactured in green sand, CO2 sand, furan sand, in ceramics and croning moulds.  Wood, plastic, metal or polystyrol patterns are made in-house and computer simulation is employed to predict solidification and to optimize feeder and gating technology.

Special emphasis is laid on the bi-metallic and composite casting (embedded ceramic / tungsten carbide) range which are proven to outlast all conventional hard castings. Bi-metallic castings can be either metallurgically bonded type or vacuum brazed type. Two contrasting properties such as toughness and hardness can be imparted on the same product using these products. Examples include clinker crusher or coal crusher hammers where bolting area is maintained tough whereas striking area is made hard.


Another innovative solution available in India is the hybrid casting. A hardness gradient varying from 20 HRC (support zone) up to 70 HRC (wear zone) is achieved utilizing a proprietary "poly-armouring" process. Common applications for this technology are grinding rolls and tables (or bull ring segments) of vertical mills used in cement, slag, coal and raw material grinding.
